Blog An Enchanted Festive Season An enchanted festive season all wrapped up in Cockermouth at Kirkgate Arts Get ready for November treats, festive delights and New Year showstoppers in Cockermouth this winter. Highlights from Kirkgate Arts this season include live music from the Gary Stewart Band with Graceland (18 Nov), a joyous collision of musical styles in Bollywood Jazz (9 Dec) and a festive classic - The Nutcracker (10 Dec) streaming from the Royal Opera House. Written by Dani Boniface Canadian acoustic power trio Ten Strings and a Goat Skin (3 Nov) kick off the new music programme, whilst exciting folk/acoustic duo Cosgrave & Banks (10, 11, 12 Nov) visit various Arts Out West venues, sharing their exhilarating tunes across the county. Legendary Leeds-based troubadour Gary Stewart and his incredible 7-piece band come together to recreate Paul Simon’s landmark Graceland (18 Nov) album in all its glory; and after their last sell out gig, Cumbria’s Tryckster (22 Dec) return with an extra-special Yuletide gig. Thirty years on, spectacular neo-noir sci-fi sequel Blade runner: 2049 (15 Dec) arrives on the Kirkgate big screen followed by a dark, lavish train ride with Murder on the Orient Express (18 Dec). The New Year brings your favourite DC superheroes to town. Join Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman and more as they attempt to save the world from an assault of catastrophic proportions in Justice League (8 Jan). Rediscover the magic of Christmas as the world’s beloved classical ballet The Nutcracker* (10 Dec), danced to Tchaikovsky's magnificent score, arrives here in Cumbria. CADS return to the Kirkgate with classic comedy The Way of the World (23, 24, 25 Nov) by William Congreve, and the Cockermouth Round Table are back with the Beer Festival (30 Nov – 2 Dec), showcasing the very-best beers, lagers and ciders, plus live entertainment.
