We are delighted to have secured a grant from the ACE Emergency Response Fund, which will support cultural experiences for the people of Cumbria during lockdown, and also help Kirkgate Arts to further develop its reach into the community.
With the current enforced focus on digital provision, we see this period as an opportunity not only to serve our existing audiences, but to reach out, through our growing networks, to engage people who have not previously experienced what Kirkgate Arts has to offer.
We will give paid work to Cumbrian artists, making online performances, distributed through our channels, allowing the public to enjoy ‘live’ music, spoken word or other performances while socially isolated. We’ll promote these widely via social media, and via networks including: Cumbria Family Arts Network, Cumbria Arts & Culture Network, and the Arts Out West roster of community venues.
CALL FOR ARTISTS:
We are looking for high quality music, spoken word, theatre or other live performances. If you feel you could offer a warm, thrilling, distinctive experience to the people of Cumbria via the internet, Kirkgate Arts would like to hear from you.
We are looking to broadcast a varied selection of performances of between 30 and 60 minutes each over the coming months.
Within our modest budget, we intend to pay fairly for your work, with fees to be negotiated depending on numbers of artists involved and resource requirements.
To apply: please send
- a brief proposal (no more than one side of A4) outlining what you could offer
- a brief biog/company history
- links to websites and/or any other online media as appropriate

DEADLINE FOR SUBMSSIONS: Friday 10 July 11 p.m.
